Default Is the datacenter at "One Wilshire" any good? - 12-05-2005 , 06:00 AM

My hosting company just informaed us that all out sites are going to be transferred over to some data center named "One Wilshire"

We are currently at The Planet in Dallas, which has been pretty stable over the last 3+ years we've hosted there.

Anybody know anything about this datacenter called "One Wilshire", like where they are physically located, and do they have a good reputation for stability?

One Wilshire is a large building in california pre-wired for internet access, there are dozens of ISP's in that location, overall it's a good location. You can view more info about one wilshire here:

and

Last I remember (2.5 years ago, there were some power issues, which have since been resolved)

Thanks for the links...

The only thing I don't like is the fact that they are located in southern California. It wouldn't take that big of an earthquake to knock this datacent out of service for a few weeks.

I think I'm going to setup a second nameserver and a second hosting account and have secondary DNS settings just to be on the safe side.

Is this a common practice, to have backup hosting?
