Default What is better colocation or dedicated server? - 09-15-2008 , 11:32 AM

I am going to deal with Globaltap.com and don't know what will better for me colocation or dedicated server. Their offers seems to be perfect for me, taking into account their prices. Could you help me to choose? Any feedbacks?

I thinnk it is better to get a dedicated server, which would ensure your stability. Certainly, I am talking about the reliable providers.

Colocation and server leasing are two completely different animals. Neither is BETTER. It depends what you are going to do with them and for how long.

Please describe your project.

Indeed. This is the same as what is better lion or a tiger.. For me lion is better because lion-in-the-dungeon sounds better thean tiger at the same place.

Also I would recommend you to perform provider search once more. Many of them have better conditions. Take a look at ServerPoint.com or a2hosting.com... These companies have very good-looking plans for dedis and ServerPoint also offeres colo. when using colocation the distance to your host is also important.

@ OP, do you have any experience with co-location service?
It's not easy to run, start from dedi from globaltap.com, they are cheaper and with time you will be able to use the other service from them as well.

colo is only better if you live within 10 miles near datacenter. Longer distances make this service unreasonable.

To my mind, it would be far more better to choose dedicated server solution. I suggest you to look at serverpoint.com for comparison. Both companies have good reputation and it will be reasonable to compare them and choose suitable one.

I am very thankful for your useful and cognitive recommendations and after speaking with serverpoint.com sales representative I decided to colocation server and deal with this company because it has nice reputation in the web hosting services market. I will tell you about the quality of this company's services later.
