I don't think they are Australian.

I think unless you a local there's no need to for a locally-based domain name registrar, I'd rather choose the one offering the widest possible range of extensions to keep all domains withing one registrar, at the moment I think that EuroDNS.com quite meets this criterium offering a large number of extensions.
