A recent headache for us has been the geography of data centers. Allow me to explain...
We use a number of hosts, and are always looking for more. The nightmare scenario is purchasing hosting, only to discover later that we already have hosting in the facility via a different host. That sort of destroys the whole idea of backup hosts/etc. I've therefore been looking for a list of major data centers, with an idea of which major reseller-hosts have servers there. I've had no luck whatsoever. Does anyone know of such a list? If there isn't one, how about trying to compile at least some data? Here's a starter: THE PLANET: Dallas, Texas Example hosts: Hostgator, Myacen NAC: New Jersey (I think) Example hosts: BlueWho, HostNexus INTERSERVER: New Jersey Example hosts: JVDS EV1: Houston? Example hosts: Oki, CredibleHost, ITechSolve? GNAX Atlanta, Georgia Example hosts: DixieSys HE San Jose, California Example hosts: Powersurge, AWH, Purple Paw DONHOST Doncaster, England Example hosts: Hosternet, Dziner, Hostplus OK... it's a feeble start, but can anyone expand it? Add to what I have, or better still, add new datacenters/locations/hosts? |
