Default If Google had hosting. - 11-21-2005 , 06:50 AM

What would happen? Would it put an end to other hosting companies?
I think the only host that would be left is Yahoo & godaddy, and maybe resellers from google if they had it.

What do you guys think?

Google has Gmail, does it put an end to hotmail and yahoo webmail?

I don't see why it is a big deal ~ Godaddy used to provide only domain registration, but now they also provide hosting, it doesn't put an end to anyone ~ Plus their hosting isn't fully featured packed as far as I know according to what other have said

I do not think Google will ever get into "hosting" as we know it.

Why?

It is much too much work. If you look at most of Google's products, they are "applications"--you can only use them one way Google designed them to be used, more or less. Google search, you search for a word and you get items back. GMail, you read your e-mail. Blogger, you post diaries. So on and so forth... In this sense, hosting is a "service" not an "application." With hosting, you can do anything--which happens to mean you have to support anything; users aren't tied into small little use cases.

if Google gets in they will slash the prices and bandwidth will increase. it would ceratinly be a tough market in the event they come out with low prices. else if they are a little pricey then we all should be ok
